Farewell parties, 23-24 Mai 2007
As a lot of the foreign students left for home, we home we had a string of farewell parties to attend/host, including for two of Mayan's close friends, Yuko and Amy.
First, there was Amy's, the one on the left's.
As had become a bit of a tradition, we started at her place, played beer pong, and schmoozed, then headed out into the night, heading for Bar Sextius.
As things just started hotting up, the bar closed, which meant it was time for the main event of the evening. As any visitor will tell you, Aix's main attraction is Le Rotonde, a roundabout with an enormous fountain named after Victor Hugo. And so it was, that one dark and steamy night, when there was no one else around, a group of people were seen sneaking towards the bottom tier, slighty less than fully clothed...
I guess you can guess the rest of that story. There's no dramatic ending, no police, just some slightly gross, algae-covered feet. Next we headed to Scat Club, an underground live music night club, and tapped out a few rhythms, showed off our Anglo dance moves, and eventually found our way home.
A little later, when it was actually time for Amy to leave (the first time: she just had to come back a week later), we did it in a nice French way, with cheese, salad, baguette, wine, etc.
Next up came Yuko's big night, hot on the heels of the one before, and this time it started at our place. Frog's legs and sardines for dinner, and champagne cocktails for dessert. Who says student living aint easy?
